This is our dog, Lulu. J Catbird adopted her from NYC’s Waggytail Rescue in 2004. She’s crazy cute (as evidenced by that hairstyle) and smart as a whip.
She also has issues, owing to the abuse she suffered in her early years— she’s terribly fear-aggressive with strangers, and with men, especially so. But we’ve worked hard with Lulu these last 6 years and have come to learn that this little dog can actually be a sweet, loyal, and loving little companion.
At the end of this month, we’re relocating from NYC to San Francisco, and there is no way we can possibly bring Lulu with us. I won’t go into any greater detail about that, but suffice to say, it’s very difficult and complicated, and we don’t take this lightly at all. This is not a superficial situation where it’s “we got tired of our dog” or “our new place won’t allow pets.” If there was any way we could bring her, we would. But we cannot.
So I’m posting this now in the hopes that someone out there may be able to help me find this special little dog a home. And that will likely require that you have a personal connection to a Dog Rescue, Sanctuary, or potential new home; since, over the last month, J has worked tirelessly to find a place for Lulu. She’s contacted virtually every Rescue group and Sanctuary in New York, and even a number of out-of-state ones. At this point, she has exhausted all the contacts/leads we’ve made in the dog-training/behavior community over the years. And the fact is, no one (not even Lulu’s original Rescue) can take her.
If you can possibly help find Lulu a home, please get in touch ASAP. We desperately need to find a home for her. And the time to do that is rapidly running out.
